Shaftesbury Cricket Club was formed way back before 1850 making it one of the Country's oldest continuous cricket clubs. And, while it may be a venerable institution, the Club is still very much full of life. There is more cricket played in Shaftesbury today than at any time in the Town's long and illustrious history!
Three teams compete every weekend in the Dorset Cricket League and the Shaftesbury Convicts compete in the Ranston midweek 20:20 league. In addition the Club runs two colts teams and can only just about cope with demand from the youngsters that are flooding into the sport.
But, running a successful sports club relies on the goodwill and hard work of a small band of dedicated volunteers, who give up time and hard earned cash to keep things running. That is why fund raising events like our annual quiz are so important - and why we are so grateful for the continued support of the local community.
